Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Wednesday, Aug. 31: At 9:57 am officers picked up a reported abandoned bicycle at Wild Rose Casino. The bike was placed in the impound lot. At 1:23 pm officers arrested a 13-year-old male at Greene County Middle School on an outstanding JPD juvenile arrest warrant. The warrant was issued after the completion of an investigation that began on June 13 after the Doreen Wilber statue was damaged. The juvenile was charged with criminal mischief- fourth degree (serious misdemeanor)*. At 1:20 pm management at Kum & Go reported a gas drive off that occurred Aug. 27. Employees believed the individual would return and pay for his fuel, as he is a regular customer. After a period of time passed without him coming back, they reported the incident. The officer is investigating. At 2:28 pm a complainant requested officers at a residence in the 200 block of S. Maple St, alleging her sister was trying to break into the residence. Before the officer’s arrival, the sister had forced entry into the residence, grabbed several items and ran from the area. Officers located the female in the vicinity of the residence. Officers arrested Karah Jean Brown, 19, of Jefferson and charged her with harassment- first degree (aggravated misdemeanor), burglary- second degree (Class C felony), and criminal mischief- fifth degree (simple misdemeanor)*. At 2:22 pm officers were advised of a person with a deep freeze in the bed of a pickup truck in town attempting to sell meat. The officer was unable to locate the vehicle to ensure the seller was registered at city hall to do sales in town. At 3:51 pm officers investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at Elm and W. Lincoln Way. Maryann Sullivan of Scranton was driving a 1999 Buick Century owned by Genesis Development. She had stopped as posted at the intersection. Jason Sheldaul of Boone was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee owned by Jacob Sheldaul. He failed to stop and struck the rear end of Sullivan’s vehicle. Sheldaul was cited for failure to maintain control. Both vehicles suffered light damage. At 5:07 pm a complainant reported a male had sent inappropriate pictures to her juvenile daughter on Facebook. The officer is investigating.
Tuesday, Aug. 30: At 7:41 am an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at Chestnut and Vest Streets. Megan Ball of Jefferson westbound on Vest St. She stopped as posted but proceeded into the intersection without seeing a southbound vehicle approaching. Ball struck the driver’s side door of a vehicle driven by Nicholas Hidlebaugh of Rippey. Ball was cited for failure to obey a stop sigh. Damage to the vehicle she was driving, a 2001 Buick Regal owned by Jake Ball, was estimated at $5,000. Damage to the vehicle Hidlebaugh was driving, a 2000 Chevrolet Impala owned by Jean Hidlebaugh, was estimated at $8,000. At 1:46 am officers, deputies and the Jefferson fire department responded to the Casey’s Store (N. Elm St) for a reported electrical fire. Officers were able to shut the main electrical breaker down after arriving. A cooler door light had malfunctioned and was arching into the cooler. No damage occurred to the business. Casey’s contacted an electrician to correct the issue. At 4:02 pm a complainant reported a stray cat in the 300 block of S. Locust St. The officer was unable to catch the cat. ******* An officer has James Alexander Pena, 18, and Antonia Rose Romeo, 17, both of Jefferson with trespass-simple* in connection with an investigation Aug. 29 of two persons attempted to remove cans from a drop box at Gospel Open Bible Church.
Monday, Aug. 29: At 2 pm an officer spoke to residents in the 300 block of N. Pinet St about a barking dog complaint. The officer advised the animal could be considered a nuisance and advised them to remedy the issue. The owner was also given a period of time to become compliant with animal license. At 2:24 pm officers were advised of two subjects attempting to remove cans from the can donation drop off at Gospel Open Bible Church. Officers made contact with three subjects in connection to the matter. The officer is still investigating. At 5:27 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief had occurred to the Aktion Club can donation trailer as it was parked in the 100 block of E. Washington St. At 10:32 pm a resident brought to the LEC a young kitten she had found near Kum & Go. The officer placed the animal in the animal holding facility.
Sunday, Aug. 28: At 1:12 am an officer was requested at a residence in the 200 block of E. Clark St. The occupant advised of someone attempting to enter the residence on Aug. 26 at about midnight. The occupant turned on the kitchen light and the subject left. No damage was located and nothing was reported missing. At 12:16 pm a complainant reported an overnight burglary to a vehicle parked in the 700 block of W. State St. Loose change was removed from the vehicle. At 2:01 pm a complainant reported an overnight burglary to vehicle parked in the 800 block of W. Washington St. At 4:39 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 600 block of W. Reed St for criminal mischief. The complainant advised she refused to open the locked door for a male visitor. She reported the male kicked the door open and grabbed her phone as she attempted to call police. The officer is investigating.
Saturday, Aug. 27: At 6:48 am a complainant reported an identity theft. A credit card had been opened and used in the complainant’s name. The officer is working with Anderson to clear up the issue. At 7:49 am officers were requested by security staff at Wild Rose Casino for two suspicious subjects in a vehicle in the parking lot. At 8:05 am a complainant reported an injured deer in the roadway near Westwood and Deer Run. The officer dispatched the animal and removed it from the roadway. At 1:03 pm a complainant reported kids throwing bricks at the Genesis building at 401 West McKinley St. The officer located paint chipped from the building. At 1:06 pm a resident captured a stray dog running freely in the 200 block of S. Walnut St. The officer placed the animal in the animal holding facility. At 2:31 pm management at A & W reported receiving a counterfeit $1 bill from a customer.
Friday, Aug. 26: At 10:05 am an officer arrested Patrick Michael Kennedy at the courthouse on an outstanding JPD arrest warrant for violation of a protective order (simple misdemeanor)*. The warrant was issued after an investigation that began May 14 at a residence in the 300 block of N. Chestnut St. Kennedy was also wanted on two arrest warrants for probation violation. (Entry edited Aug. 23 per JPD chief Clouse.) At 3:39 pm officers investigated a property damage accident involving three vehicles in the 100 block of Ram Drive. Westley Long of Jefferson, driving a 20011 Toyota Tacoma, had stopped for traffic in the area. Behind him was Justice Davis of Churdan, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Sydney Schiltz of Jefferson, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Sean Schiltz, failed to stop and struck the rear of Davis’s vehicle, pushing it forward into the rear of Long’s vehicle. Schiltz was cited for failure to stop in assured clear distance ahead. Damage to the vehicle she was driving was estimated at $1,000. Damage to the other two vehicles was estimated at $500 each.
Thursday, Aug. 25: At 12:20 pm an officer was called to Fareway for a reported stolen vehicle. A green 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck was taken from the parking lot sometime between 10 am and noon. The vehicle has been entered into the state system as a stolen motor vehicle and the officer is investigating. At 5:27 pm a resident brought two stray cats he had found near N. Locust and E. Washington Streets to the LEC.
Wednesday, Aug. 24: At 11:27 am management at A&W Restaurant reported receiving a counterfeit $10 bill from a customer. The officer is investigating. At 12:30 pm officers were advised of a male driving in the area of the 800 block of N. Elm St. The reported driver is barred in Iowa. The officer did not locate the subject. *******Arrest warrants have been requested after receiving test results from the Iowa DCI crime lab on evidence submitted in June. Officers were called to the 300 block of N. Chestnut St on June 4 for a couple reportedly involved in a verbal dispute. Brittany Kay Smith, 28, of Jefferson was arrested on that day for disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanor). A search of her person located suspected narcotic related items, which were sent to the DCI crime lab for testing. The results of the testing were positive for narcotics. The arrest warrants were requested for possession of methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. ****** An arrest warrant has been requested for Mark Edward Dugan, 37, of Des Moines for possession of methamphetamine- second offence (aggravated misdemeanor). Lab results were received from items sent after a traffic stop in the 300 block of N. Wilson on June 3.
Tuesday, Aug. 23: At 3:09 pm while on patrol an officer witnessed a male for whom there was an outstanding JPD arrest warrant enter a residence in the 300 block of W. Reed St. The subject would not come to the door as the officer knocked. A deputy and other officers arrived to assist. The male eventually came outside to officers. Jacob Aurther Ore, 38, of Jefferson was arrested for the outstanding arrest warrant for trespass (simple misdemeanor). Ore was also charged by the officer with interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor)* for running back into the residence when ordered to stop by the officer. ******* An officer has received lab results from the DCI crime lab in an investigation that began May 15 at Wild Rose Casino. A small plastic bag of suspected narcotics had been located on the gaming floor of the casino. The officer was provided video of the bag falling from a male’s pocket. An arrest warrant has been requested for Robby Joe Anthofer, 48, of Coon Rapids for possession of methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor)*.
Monday, Aug. 22: At 10:02 am the Greene County dispatcher received a call from a male advising someone was breaking into the residence at in the 1400 block of Southfield Drive. The male caller advised he wanted to start shooting his firearm through the walls of the residence. Officers were assisted by a deputy at the residence. The officers made contact with two male occupants inside the residence. Both males advised they had not mentioned a firearm or shooting one to the dispatcher. Construction workers were present and working on the rear of the residence, per the property owner. The officers requested to walk through the residence to look for firearms, but the request was denied by the legal occupant. At 2:35 pm an officer located Zachary Waters, 20, of Jefferson in the 300 block of W. Reed St. The officer knew Waters had two outstanding arrest warrants for traffic offenses. The officer assisted Waters in turning himself in the LEC to be booked on the two warrants. At 2:34 pm officers were advised of a resident in the 300 block of E. Lincoln Way burning unknown items in a fire pit and causing a foul smell in the area. The officers made contact with the resident and learned he was burning items other than yard waste. The officers issued a verbal warning and advised that only yard waste items can be openly burned within the city limits. At 4:10 pm a complainant advised of a suspicious male in a green minivan parking in the 400 block of N. Maple St and watching her young children playing outside. The officer did not locate the vehicle, but has an idea of the male’s identity. The officer is investigating. At 6:48 pm a resident captured a loose dog in the 300 block of S. Maple St. the officer placed the animal in the animal holding facility.
Sunday, Aug. 21: At 9:43 am a resident gave an officer second hand information about a subject shooting rabbits with a pellet gun and feeding them to his pitbull dog. The officer is investigating. At 2:45 pm a complainant reported an assault that had occurred at a residence in the 500 block of N. Chestnut St between two male juveniles. The officer’s investigation led to a 14-year-old male juvenile from Grand Junction being charged in Juvenile Court with assault – simple*.
Saturday, Aug. 20: At 1:56 am staff at the GCMC emergency room requested an officer for a juvenile female that had been assaulted at an unknown residence in Jefferson. The officer is investigating the reported assault. At 4:28 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to her vehicle while it was parked in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St. At 9 am a complainant reported the theft of her purse from her unsecured vehicle while parked in the 300 block of E. Harrison St. At 9:50 am staff at Wild Rose Casino requested an officer there. A female had entered the casino and attempted to redeem a $100 voucher from the casino. The voucher had been stolen from a player at the casino on Aug. 13. The officer is working with the casino on the investigation. At 12:53 pm a complainant reported the theft of cash from an unsecured vehicle parked in the 400 block of N. Chestnut St.
Friday, Aug. 19: At 11:44 am officers investigated a burglary to the concession stand at the Jefferson municipal swimming pool. At 12:29 pm a complainant reported the theft of prescription medications from her vehicle parked in the 600 block of N. Vine St. At 4:48 pm a resident reported a stray dog on the overpass in the 700 block of N. Elm St. The officer did not locate the animal.
Thursday, Aug. 18: At 6:37 am an officer arrested a 15-year-old male from a residence in the 900 block of N. Pinet St on outstanding JPD arrest warrants for sex abuse- second degree (Class B felony) and kidnapping- second degree (Class B felony)*. The charges stem from an incident reported to officers on Aug. 10. It was reported that a 15-year-old female was held against her will for several hours and was sexually and physically abused by the juvenile male. He was later transported by Juvenile Services to Eldora. At 8:39 am management at Kum & Go reported receiving a counterfeit $10 bill. The officer is investigating. At 2:29 pm JPD officers assisted the Greene County sheriff’s office in locating a missing male juvenile in Jefferson. At 3:40 pm a complainant reported a burglary at a residence in the 300 block of S. Wilson. Several tools and other items were reported stolen. The officer is investigating. At 4:07 pm the Boone County sheriff’s office advised of a high speed chase occurring in Boone County on Highway 30. A Boone deputy was pursuing a motorcycle that entered Greene County and the deputy lost sight of it. The Greene County sheriff’s office and Jefferson police did not locate the motorcycle. At 5:05 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at W. Clark and N. Oak St. Linda Redfern of Jefferson was southbound on Oak St. Erica Murphy of Jefferson was westbound on Clark St. Their vehicles collided in the intersection. Redfern will be cited for failure to yield to the vehicle on the right. Damage to her 2015 Toyota Camry was estimated at $5,000. Damage to Murphy’s 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was estimated at $10,000. At 5:25 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident in the 300 block of N. Elm St. Chris Conner of Jefferson was southbound in the outside lane of Elm St. Linda Albrecht of Mapleton, MN, was southbound in the inside lane, slightly ahead of Connor. Albrecht turned right across the outside lane to enter the A & W Family Restaurant. Conner struck the passenger side of Albrecht’s vehicle. Albrecht will be cited for improper lane change. Damage to her 2016 GMC was estimated at $5,000. Damage to the vehicle Conner was driving, a 2001 Ford Excursion owned by Conner Athletics, was estimated at $2,000. At 8:02 pm Cobblestone Inn employees turned over items located in a rented room that they believed could be narcotic in nature.
Wednesday, Aug. 17: At 12:36 pm officers were advised of possible narcotic activity taking place in the 700 block of S. Maple St. At 1:59 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident at S. Chestnut and E. Monroe St. Tina Meseck of Jefferson was westbound on Madison driving a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. She stopped as posted and proceeded. Gabriela Pena of Jefferson was southbound on Chestnut driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger. As Meseck entered the intersection Pena’s vehicle struck hers. Pena was cited for failure to yield upon entering roadway. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $500. Damage to Meseck’s vehicle was estimated at $1,000. At 2:55 pm a complainant reported the theft of prescription medication from a residence in the 600 block of N. Olive St. At 7:14 pm Regency Park management staff spoke with an officer about a possible unauthorized person picking up a medical prescription for a resident there.
Monday, Aug. 15: At 7:18 am management at Sparky’s One Stop reported receiving two counterfeit $10 bills on Aug. 13. The officer is working with the business to obtain video surveillance footage of the event. An investigation has started. At 1:48 pm Marlene Murphy reported her husband missing from their home since Aug. 9. Dennis Dean Murphy, 61, of Jefferson left home Aug. 9 and his wife has had no contact from him since that day. Murphy has been entered in the National Crime Information Center data base as “missing.” At 2:13 pm an officer was requested by the sheriff’s office to assist with a one vehicle personal injury accident on Jordan Ave near Slininger Woods in Jackson Township. At 2:28 pm management at Oly’s Corner reported receiving three counterfeit $10 bills over the weekend. The business will provide the officer video as it becomes available to further the investigation. At 9:58 pm staff at the Greene County Medical Center emergency room requested an officer for a patient leaving the facility who needed immediate medical care. The officer arrived and made contact with three subjects outside of ER. The officer instructed the female to return to ER, but she refused. As the officer was pulling the female back inside, the other two subjects began pulling on the female to remove her from the hospital and threatening the officer. The officer was able to bring the female back into the ER for lifesaving treatment and calmed her down. The officer has requested arrest warrants for the two subjects who hindered his efforts to bring the female back inside the ER. Arrest warrants have been requested for Zachery Allen Waters, 20, of Jefferson for harassment- third degree and disorderly conduct (simple misdemeanors)*. An arrest warrant has also been requested for Samantha Monique Henderson, 23, of Jefferson for interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor)*.
Sunday, Aug. 14: At 1:04 am an officer investigated a one vehicle property damage accident at Grimmell Road and W. Russell St. A 2005 Pontiac Montana Van, owned by Gary Anschutz and operated by Terry Anschutz of Jefferson, entered the south ditch on Russell while making the turn from Grimmell Road. The officer believed a flat tire during the turn caused Anschutz to lose control and enter the ditch. No citation was issued and no damage was reported to the vehicle. At 2:36 pm an officer arrested Michael Eugene Hamilton, 39, of Jefferson on outstanding JPD arrest warrants. Hamilton had warrants for violation of a protective order and criminal mischief- fifth degree (simple misdemeanors)*. Hamilton was charged with interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor) for conduct during this arrest. At 2:52 pm a complainant reported the theft of an ATV from a garage in the 700 block of N. Wilson. At 6:36 pm a JPD officer assisted the sheriff’s office with a reported assault against a juvenile that had occurred in Scranton.
Saturday, Aug. 13: At 12:06 am a complainant reported the theft of her purse from Wild Rose Casino. The officer was advised that the Iowa DCI agents from the Casino would follow up on the theft. At 3:22 am a Greene County deputy advised he was in pursuit of a vehicle heading south on Highway 4 towards Jefferson. The officer set up his vehicle near the intersection of Highways 4 and 30 and clocked the fleeing vehicle at 99 mph as it reached Jefferson. The vehicle turned into the parking lot at Wild Rose Casino and the officer followed. A male subject fled from the vehicle in the parking lot. The officer and deputy lost sight of the subject as he ran north behind the casino. At 06:22 am, officers were advised the male had returned to the casino. Troy Angelo McGee, 47, of Fort Dodge was arrested for eluding while participating in a felony (Class D felony), possession of marijuana – third of subsequent offense (aggravated misdemeanor), possession of methamphetamine more than 5 grams with intent to deliver (Class B felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. McGee was also cited for excessive speed, 99 in a 55 mph zone*. At 10:54 am an officer assisted Greene County sheriff’s deputies in executing a search warrant in Grand Junction. At 4:05 pm a complainant reported the theft of a ladder from a residence in the 500 block of N. Chestnut St.
Friday, Aug. 12: At 12:01 am a resident in the 400 block of N. Cedar St reported the storm had blown a large branch off of her tree and it landed on two vehicles. The branch struck a 2007 Pontiac G5 owned by William Lundbohum and a 1999 Chevy Blazer owned by Jesus Molina. The branch also hit the residence. The incident caused very minor damages to the vehicles and residence. The tree was on private property, not the city right of way. At 1:25 pm a complainant reported a fight in progress between unknown subjects at a residence in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive. The officer arrived and learned the unknown subjects had left the area in a white passenger vehicle. A 1993 Chevrolet Astro Van, owned by Janice Krause, suffered a broken window. Krause was not involved in the disturbance. The officer is investigating. At 5:33 pm a complainant reported a stolen/lost wallet at Wild Rose Casino.
Thursday, Aug. 11: At 4:55 pm a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 600 block of S. Cedar St. At 6:09 pm staff at Sparky’s One Stop reported a gas drive off in the amount of $20.02. At 9:35 pm an officer contacted Alliant Energy after witnessing lightning strike a transformer in the 900 block of W. Russell St.
Wednesday, Aug. 10: At 8:10 am a complainant reported possible criminal activity at a residence in the 300 block of S. Pinet St. At 10:43 am a Home State Bank employee spoke with an officer about a fraudulent check. An officer is investigating. At 10:56 am an officer responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of S. Oak St and W. Madison St. Angela Murphy was eastbound on Madison St driving a 2008 Nissan Quest. As she approached the uncontrolled intersection of Oak St she did not yield to Emily Finch, who was northbound on Oak St driving a 2005 Nissan 350Z. Murphy’s vehicle struck Finch’s vehicle on the driver’s side door, causing $1,000 in damages to her vehicle and $3,000 to Finch’s vehicle. Murphy was cited for failure to yield to vehicle on right. At 1:46 pm a Webster City resident and the Webster City PD spoke with an officer about a stolen credit card that was used at Hy-Vee in Jefferson. An officer is assisting Webster City PD in the investigation. At 2:14 pm a complainant reported that her vehicle was broken into and several items were stolen from it in the 400 block of E. State St. An officer is investigating. At 5:50 pm a female juvenile reported being assaulted by a male juvenile. An officer is investigating. ***** As a result of an investigation on Aug. 6 of two females drinking underage at the Wild Rose Casino with fictitious Illinois driver’s licenses, Allison Stoline, 20, of Jefferson and Chelsea Flack, 20, of Jefferson were issued citations for misuse of license or ID card to acquire alcohol and arrest warrants have been obtained for possession of fictitious license (serious misdemeanor)*.

Monday, Aug. 8: At 3:50 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident in the 300 block of N. Elm St. Lee Melton of Guthrie Center was northbound in the inside lane of N. Elm driving a 2006 Dodge 1500 pickup truck towing a 2008 Rockwood travel trailer. A vehicle abruptly began to stop in front of Melton, causing him to make a lane change to avoid colliding with the vehicle in front of him. As Melton quickly changed lanes, his travel trailer struck a the front driver’s side fender of a 2003 Dodge 1500 pickup truck being driven by Michael Danley of Jefferson. Melton was cited for unsafe lane change. Damage to his travel trailer was estimated at $500. Damage to Danley’s truck was estimated at $700. At 7:55 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to her 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The truck appeared to have been keyed on both sides. The complainant was unsure on where the damage had occurred. The officer estimated the damage at $500 to repair the scratches to the vehicle. ******** Arrest warrants have been requested for a Jefferson male after the completion of an investigation that began with a search warrant execution at 405 E. Vest St on June 10. Arrest warrants are requested for Joe Edward Blackmon, 40, of Jefferson for possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense (class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*.

Saturday, Aug. 7: At 12:29 am an officer was called to Coaches Corner at Wild Rose Casino. Security had located two females consuming alcohol in the business. It had been discovered the two had left when advised the police were being called. The officer’s investigation has led to arrest warrants being requested for Chelsea Suzette Flack, 20, of Jefferson and Allison Mae Stoline, 20, of Jefferson for possession of fictitious license or ID card (serious misdemeanor)*. Both will also face charges of possession of alcohol under age*. At 8:20 am a male walking near Central Ave. and N. Grimmell Road located several credit cards in the street. When the items were turned into the LEC, the officer contacted the owner of the cards. The officer learned that a burglary had occurred to a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Head St. A purse, cash, cell phones, and other items were removed from the vehicle. The officer is investigating.
At 9:14 am a complainant reported the theft of a delivered package at a residence in the 300 block of S. West St. After not receiving the order, the complainant tracked the package and learned it had been delivered to her residence, but it was gone when she arrived home. At 5:44 pm a complainant reported finding damage to his 1992 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck when his son had returned home from Hy-Vee. The vehicle had $600 in damages. The officer is investigating. At 6:44 pm a complainant reported being harassed by a male in the 200 block of E. Adams St. The officer is investigating the event.
Friday, Aug. 5: At 8:25 am a complainant reported receiving text messages from a known male. The officer’s investigation has led to an arrest warrant being requested for Mark Burgart, 39, of Churdan for violation of a protective order (simple misdemeanor)*. At 3:09 pm an officer was requested at a residence in the 300 block of W. Washington St for a reported assault. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Robert Eugene Barnard Jr, 50, of Des Moines for assault – simple.* At 9:52 pm off-duty officers were working the event at the Wild Rose Casino. The officers observed a young male walking with a can of alcohol. The officer’s investigation led to the Jefferson officer arresting Isaiah Jeremy Patina, 19, of Austin, TX, for possession of alcohol under age (simple misdemeanor)*. At 10:25 pm officers located a person they knew to be underage consuming alcohol at the outdoor event at Wild Rose Casino. The officer arrested Joseph Macjames Doran, 19, of Paton for possession of alcohol under age*.
Thursday, Aug. 4: At 10:33 pm security staff at Wild Rose Casino advised of an intoxicated male who had just driven away from there. Casino staff had attempted to help the male with transportation home or a hotel room but he had refused. The officer did not locate the vehicle.
Wednesday, Aug. 3: At 1:28 pm officers were requested by public works department employees at a residence in the 1000 block of N. Walnut St. The water service to the residence was being disconnected due to non-payment. The homeowner had damaged the water curb shut-off in attempts to stop employees from shutting the service off again. An arrest warrant has been requested for Ryan James Brown, 44, of Jefferson for criminal mischief- fourth degree (serious misdemeanor)*. Estimate to repair the valve damage is $500. At 1:10 pm a resident turned in suspected narcotics she had located on her property in the 700 block of S. Vine St. The officer tested the item and it tested positive for marijuana. The officer is destroying the item. At 6:45 pm Joshua Harold Gingery, 31, of Churdan turned himself in at the LEC for an outstanding Greene County sheriff’s office arrest warrant for burglary. The officer noticed immediately that Gingery was intoxicated. The officer added a charge of public intoxication (simple misdemeanor)*.
Tuesday, Aug. 2: At 12:15 pm a resident brought a stray kitten she had captured to the LEC. The officer placed the kitten in the animal holding facility. At 3:28 pm personnel at Medicap Pharmacy reported a stray dog in the area of the 400 block of N. Elm St. At 5:16 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 200 block of S. High St for a reported domestic assault. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Robert Alan Fry, 53, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault- second offence (serious misdemeanor)*. At 7:04 pm a complainant advised an officer of items removed from his vehicle on July 31. The complainant’s vehicle was parked in the 400 block of S. Wilson. When he returned to the vehicle his cell phone was missing.
Monday, Aug. 1: At 8:04 am a Genesis Development group home staff member advised that a 51-year-old female client was missing from the home on E. Harrison St. The Jefferson fire department assisted the Jefferson police department in looking for the subject. The subject returned to the facility at about 1:30 pm. The officer believes she had been in a shed in the area of the facility. At 11:41 am a complainant reported a dog running loose in the area of Daubendiek Park. The officer located the dog and placed it in the animal holding facility. At 12:42 pm staff at the Super 8 hotel reported criminal mischief to a rented room there. At 8:30 pm a complainant spoke with an officer about a possible identity theft occurring in Texas with a family member. At 9:34 pm a complainant advised an officer of her juvenile daughter being assaulted in Washington Park. The mother had attempted to work out the issue with the other child involved and parents, but did not feel it was working out. The officer made contact with the other child involved and the apparent. An investigation is ongoing. At 10:01 pm law enforcement in Hamilton County requested assistance in locating a vehicle that may possibly be at a residence in Jefferson. A deputy and an officer located the vehicle in question at a residence in the 1000 block of W. Wall St. The vehicle’s owner came to Jefferson and retrieved their vehicle.
